Year For Priests
This post is really quite late, but this blog did not exist at the time of the ordination of these 7 new Priests for the Archdiocese of Portland, OR last year. Being a relatively new Catholic, this was my first Ordination Mass, and it was simply an amazing and inspiring experience. Our Parish, St. Juan Diego, was blessed to have one of these Priests, Father Eric Andersen (being ordained by Archbishop John Vlazny to the left), serve as our Deacon the previous year. Thanks be to God for these wonderful men who have listened to and answered His call to the priesthood and given their lives to serve the Church. I shot the few photos here, and I found a wonderful full length video of the Ordination Mass below at http://www.gloria.tv.
Let us not forget to pray daily for all of our priests in this year designated as the Year for the Priests by our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI.
O Jesus, eternal Priest, keep your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart,
where none may touch them. Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Your Sacred Body. Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with your Precious Blood. Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood. Let Your holy love surround them and shield them from the world's contagion. Bless their labors with abundant fruit and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown.
Amen.
